A surgical technologist is a healthcare professional who plays a vital role in supporting surgeons and the surgical team during procedures. They help ensure patient safety and maintain a sterile environment throughout surgery.
Surgical technologists:
- Prepare the operating room by organizing surgical instruments, supplies, and equipment before a procedure.
- Assist the surgeon by counting and passing surgical instruments and supplies and anticipating their needs during surgery.
- Maintain sterile technique to help prevent infections and protect patient safety.
