Campus Community,
As the season is beginning to change from summer to fall and then to winter the Facilities department will begin the transition of going from cooling to heating in various buildings on campus. Switching buildings from one mode to another is not a quick or simple process and will take a few days to complete. Misciagna Hall and McAuley Hall will need to have their entire systems drained in order to make the switch to heating. Once that is completed the building will not be switched back to cooling until late spring. The boiler house is preparing to have the steam lines ready to go for the Administration Building, St. Gert’s and St. Joseph’s Halls. Other buildings are having their systems fine tuned for the heating season.
One challenge is determining when to make the switch dependent upon the current temperatures vs the forecasted temperatures. Normally, the College would make this transition the first week of October. Given the lower temperatures expected before October 1st, the college plans on transitioning the buildings to the heating season by the close of business on September 27th.
Thank you for your patience as we work through this process and monitor the fluctuating temperatures outside.
